Jim Lynch Makes His Return to Grand Rapids!
On the first page of Jim Lynch’s The Highest Tide, Miles O’Malley tells us "You’d have to be a scientist, a poet, and comedian to hope to describe it all accurately, and even then you’d often fall short." It could be Jim’s modesty speaking. Or it could be a nudge in the ribs; after all, he says you have to be a comedian. But one thing’s for sure, Jim Lynch doesn’t fall short. The author of Kent County’s One Book One County pick for 2009 returns to lounge chairs and nightstands this summer with his new novel, Border Songs, featuring a hero as remarkable and memorable as Miles from The Highest Tide. Border Songs follows Brandon Vanderkool, a 6 foot 8 inch tall, dyslexic, bird enthusiast who finds work patrolling the Canadian border in Washington. Only such a job would introduce him to the seedy underbelly of his wilderness home.
The 28th Street Schuler Books & Music will be hosting a discussion and book signing session in its comfortable in-store studio with Jim Lynch on Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. Come early to find a seat and visit with one of the nation’s premier authors, whose work has been called "irresistible" (Los Angeles Times) and "unforgettable" (Seattle Times). Feel free to mistake him for a scientist, a poet, or a comedian, but remember this, never count on him falling short!
Thursday, July 16 @ 7:00pm, 28th St.
