About the Book
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. government is poised to adopt a single nationwide storage system for Electronic Health Records that uses the latest advances in artificial intelligence to identify emerging trends, revolutionizing the response to disease outbreaks. But what if this historic innovation for saving lives could also be used as a killing machine? What if one of its first targets is a U.S. Senator running for president?

This question fuels "Coded To Kill," a medical thriller that uses the great promise—and the all-too-real perils—of mass data and machine learning to tell a gripping story filled with murder, mystery, and politics—and even a little romance.

About the Author:
Marschall S. Runge , M.D., Ph.D., is executive vice president for Medical Affairs at the University of Michigan, Dean of the Medical School, and CEO of Michigan Medicine. He earned his doctorate in molecular biology at Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine.

He was a cardiology fellow and faculty member at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the author of over 250 publications and holds five patents for novel approaches to health care. As a native of Texas who spent 15 years in North Carolina, and an avid thriller reader, he experienced so many “you can’t make this up” events that his transition to fiction was inevitable. He and his wife, Susan, a dermatologist, have five children – all doctors.
