We are delighted to welcome four accomplished fantasy authors for a panel presentation! Organized by our favorite local fantasy author Jim C. Hines (Magic Ex Libris series, Princess series, Goblin Quest trilogy), we present a panel featuring him and a trio of excellent authors. Stephanie Burgis is the author of The Dragon with the Chocolate Heart, the first in a new middle grade fantasy series, and the Kat Incorrigible trilogy of Regency fantasy adventures for kids, as well as the adult fantasy novels Masks and Shadows and Congress of Secrets. Merrie Haskell is the author of the intermediate fantasy novels Handbook for Dragon Slayers, The Princess Curse, and The Castle Behind the Thorns. Patrick Samphire is the author the middle grade series Secrets of the Dragon’s Tomb. The second book in the series, The Emperor of Mars, was just released in July of 2017.

STEPHANIE BURGIS grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, but now lives in Wales with her husband and two sons, surrounded by mountains, castles and coffee shops. Her Kat, Incorrigible trilogy of Regency fantasy adventures for kids (which includes a follow-up YA novella, "Courting Magic") has been followed by a sparkling, chocolate-infused new middle grade fantasy series from Bloomsbury Books, beginning with The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart, which was released in May of 2017. Her first historical fantasy novel for adults, Masks and Shadows, was included on the 2016 Locus Recommended Reading List. It was followed by another standalone romantic historical fantasy, Congress of Secrets, later in the same year. MERRIE HASKELL’S novels are The Princess Curse, Handbook for Dragon Slayers and The Castle Behind Thorns. Merrie won the 2014 Middle Grades Schneider Family Book Award and was a finalist for the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children’s Literature in 2013 and 2015. She lives in Michigan and works in a library with 7.5 million volumes.
JIM C. HINES’ latest book is Revisionary, the fourth in his modern-day fantasy series about a magic-wielding librarian, a dryad, a secret society founded by Johannes Gutenberg, a flaming spider, and an enchanted convertible. He's also the author of the Princess series of fairy tale retellings, the humorous Goblin Quest trilogy, and the Fable Legends tie-In Blood of Heroes. Patrick Samphire is the author of Secrets of the Dragon Tomb and The Emperor of Mars, and grew up in England and Zambia. He holds a PhD in physics from the University of Essex and attended the Clarion Writers Workshop in Seattle. He lives in Wales with his family.
