Michigan Notable Series: A Celebration of Work Author Roundtable Discussion (Eastwood)

Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 7:00pm
2820 Towne Center Blvd.
48912 Lansing

MSU’s Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives program presents this roundtable discussion of authors and their writings on the labors that shape our existence. Michigan authors Jeff Vande Zande and Josh Maday will be present to talk about the anthology they recently edited called On the Clock: Contemporary Short Stories of Work¸ which has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. They will be joined by editor M. L. Liebler, along with a few of the Michigan authors — including Rivethead author Ben Hamper and Lolita Hernandez — featured in his recent anthology Working Words: Punching the Clock and Kicking Out the Jams, recently honored as a Michigan Notable Book. A collection about living while barely making one, about layoffs and picket lines, about farmers, butchers, miners, waitresses, assembly-line workers, and the "Groundskeeper Busted Reading in the Custodial Water Closet," Working Words is literature by the people and for the people.
